Stoinis sweats on injury as Stars squash Strikers

The Melbourne Stars may have cruised to victory against Adelaide, but the side will be sweating on injured star Marcus Stoinis.
Following a terrific spell with the ball, contributing to the Strikers' all-out for 83 collapse, Stoinis' innings was cut short, copping a bouncer to the thumb just two runs away from completing the chase.
Retiring injured at 23 (20), Stoinis and the Stars will carry some concern heading into finals, with Melbourne sat in second place following last night's victory.
That said, the 36-year-old is confident that the blow is not significant.
“I think I will probably be getting a scan but I think it’s okay,” Stoinis said.
“I reckon it’s alright. It’s probably not worth the risk at that stage of the game.”
The Stars have now all-but cemented a place in the finals, while the Strikers' loss rules them out of finals contention with one game remaining.
