Records tumble in the most ridiculous BBL game in history

Fans were treated to a BBL|15 cracker on Friday night as the Heat and Scorchers played out a high-scoring thriller at the Gabba.
After losing the toss and being sent into bat, the Scorchers absolutely dominated from the get-go, with opener Finn Allen (79 off 38) and No. 3 Cooper Connolly (77 off 37) both making big scores at strike rates over 200.
That helped the side reach 6/257, their highest ever BBL score.
With such a ridiculous target in front of them, the Heat had no other choice but to attack, and after they lost opener Colin Munro on the first ball of the innings, things looked bleak.
But that brought Matt Renshaw (102 off 51) to the crease, and alongside other opener Jack Wildermuth (110 not out from 54 balls), the pair put on an absolute clinic, both reaching centuries.
Incredibly, the Heat chased down their target of 258 just two wickets down and with two balls to spare.
Both scores come in as the second and third highest in BBL history, with the Melbourne Stars’ total of 273 in the 2021/22 season the only one ahead of them.
