WATCH: Renegades gun in hospital after brutal bouncer hit
Scary scenes in the Big Bash on Thursday night after Renegades youngster Harry Dixon was struck in the neck by a bouncer and forced to retire from the game.
The 20-year-old all-rounder was taken to hospital after being hit by a 136km/h ball by Scorchers quick Mahli Beardman.
Dixon was immediately attended to by medical staff and taken from the field for treatment.
"He looks a bit distressed doesn’t he?" Ricky Ponting said.
“We just saw the last bloke to walk over to him then was Mahli Beardman. Tapped him on the back and said I’m sorry mate.
“It’s all part of the game, no one wants to see anyone get hurt or get hit. “You can’t put any blame on him (Beardman).”
After the match the Renegades tweeted an update saying: "Get well, Dicko! Harry is okay after being struck while batting. He’s alert, and will be taken to hospital as a precaution."
The Scorchers secured a dominant 50-run victory which also secured them a finals berth.
