Changes possible as England release three Ashes squad members for PM XI’s clash

England have added three players to their squad who are scheduled to play Australia’s Prime Minister’s XI on Saturday.
Jacob Bethell, Matthew Potts, and Josh Tongue have been added to the England Lions squad for the upcoming two-day fixture in a potential sign of changes to the first choice XI.
England have resisted calls to add any of their first-choice XI to the line-up so they can gain more match fitness playing in Australian conditions, instead opting to add these players who were initially left out of the XI.
Instead, the English squad, bar the three players released to join the Lions, have opted for extra net sessions at the Gabba in the lead-up to the second Test, instead of playing in the Prime Minster's XI match.
Bethell, a batting all-rounder, could be in line for a call-up pending his performance in the day-night fixture at Manuka Oval, given England’s disastrous batting collapse in the second innings where they lost 9/99.
Potts and Tongue are both bowlers who could join the English line-up given the question marks around how much cricket Mark Wood and Jofra Archer will play over the summer.
The Lions squad will travel from Perth to Canberra on Tuesday in anticipation for the game.
