Racing returns to the Nation’s Capital this Friday for Matthew Kelley Racing Race Day.
Look out for Matt’s runners as I’m sure he’ll have them wound up in front of a big Owners Marquee function.
The track has played beautifully since its return in September. We’ll be racing with the rail out 9m.
BEST BETS
Race 6 #5 Teylu
A big strong grey, this Gratz-Vella trained galloper was good first up behind a nice one in Big Opinion.
The 61kg should be no issue for this bloke who maps beautifully under Billy Owen and importantly he finds himself on his home track, where he’s had 3 runs for 2 wins and a second.
He’s been strong in both of his second up runs to date and I think he is clearly on top here.
Race 7 – #1 Hot Bandit & #13 Getty
A typically strong TAB Federal here sees leading Trainers Luke Pepper and Matthew Kelley line up 4 and 2 gallopers respectively. I am keen to play on one each of theirs here with Hot Bandit a bet should the track not be too firm by Race 7.
His preparation last time in culminated in a Narrandera Cup win and included some nice midweek form. If he can recapture that form here, he’s a great bet around $4.80 at time of writing.
He’s 3 from 4 second up and he was far from disgraced first up a couple of weeks ago at Warwick Farm. He maps to get the favours and is a big chance.
I also don’t want Getty for Matt Kelley to go around without any of mine. He looks the clear leader and if the race pans out how connections would want it to, he could have plenty left in the tank turning for home under the light weight.
He is double figure odds and shouldn’t be.
