Cam Luke & Sam Hyland have your Friday sorted on Trackside.
The lads have taken a close look at Geelong, Goulburn, Bordertown, Tuncurry & Mackay in a bid to find the family some winners.
See their best bets below:👇
Cam Luke
GEELONG
Race 5 | 4. Autumnheat
There’s no doubt the favourite is going to be hard to be but I’m gonna stick with this bloke who was really good to start back at Flemington and then drop down and belted them at Bendigo. Little toe in the ground works. This is harder but he will hopefully stalk the speed and be strong late.
Race 7 | 13. Royal Lass
Was really good here three back when she won on a track very similar to today. Been pretty good since including dropping back to 1000m in town but I think up to 1125m today helps on the back of that. Drawn nicely to squeeze forward and with Cartwright taking 1.5kg off they’re going to have to catch her.
GOULBURN
Race 3 | 4. You're On Mute
This is a much easier race than last start where honestly she wasn’t too bad in a highway in town. Gets back to the 1300m where she was pretty good, two starts back here. Heavy track no concern, Jockey claiming two is a win, and from that gate should be able to stay out of trouble and be forward.
TUNCURRY
Race 4 | 2. Smart Jazz
The gate is a problem albeit with some scratching it comes in from that dreaded number of 17 but in saying that it’s really the only negative I can see. Gets back to the 1400m which is a big tick, runs well in the heavy, great jockey on board and I’m not even certain this race is full of death. Wiht a smidge of luck SJ will run a huge race!
Race 7 | 2. Hooligan Tommy
This bloke is having an outstanding run of it winning the last three. This is a tad tougher but he deserves his opportunity. Belted them last start in town and he loves the slop, the 1600m, and with a bit of speed (Lugh/Formal Display) it’ll allow him to run on when he’s at his best. Good to be very hard to hold out late in the Cup!
Sam Hyland
GEELONG
Race 7 | 14. Excenia
Is very lightly raced and has good scope, went around in a sharp race first time out and ran well and then won nicely at Bendigo, drawn to get a sweet run and will be bigger and stronger this preparation.
GOULBURN
Race 2 | 2. Drunken Sailor
Is hard fit and has been around the money without winning this preparation, suited to this trip and is effective in wet ground, I think he is well placed here.
BORDERTOWN
Race 2 | 1. Call Me Eddy
Has come here for a victory and has drawn to get a sweet run, Eddy can put himself on speed in the run and should be there for a long way.
TUNCURRY
Race 6 | 4. Another Peach
Has been very consistent this preparation and should jump and be positive in the run, has weight relief and should give a great sight in this, racing well.
MACKAY
Race 5 | 3. Vancouver Bay
Can mix his distances up a bit and is hard fit going into this, Huxey is a good strong aggressive jockey and he should be coming on from back in the field, he is a good price, all the best punters!
