Jimmysstar proves too good in CF Orr Stakes
SEN • November 15th, 2025 7:59 pm

Jimmystarr has won in the CF Orr Stakes, having managed to do so by a length.
The 6yo Chestnut Gelding was the favourite for the race (according to Sportsbet) and ran accordingly to win his third Group 1 of his career.
The Ciaron Maher-trained horse managed to hit the lead with 200 metres to go and held off Angel Capital to win the 1400 metre race with the 6yo Chestnut Gelding being the favourite for the race (according to Sportsbet).
And on SEN Track’s Saturday Trackside, both Cam Luke and David Taggart were praising the performance by the horse and jockey Ethan Brown, who had his 10th Group 1 win of his career and his first since the All Aged Stakes in Randwick back in April.
Luke: “(Jimmystarr) He’s too good.”
“The question was asked, and Ethan Brown gets that extremely important…”
Taggart: “Group 1 win for the season”
Luke: “Absolutely, he deserves it. He’s been riding particularly well.”
Taggart: “He didn’t make my Jockeys of the Spring; people were questioning it.”
“I’ll tell you why, there have been 29 Group 1s so far since the season (started), that was the 30th, and he hasn’t ridden a Group 1 winner (until now).”
“Yes, he’s won those other races, you know (the) $3 million race, and there weren’t Group 1s, but it’s hard to put him in when other jockeys have ridden Group 1 winners and he hasn’t.”
“So he’s ticked that box, so good on him. We know that he is an outstanding rider.”
“And guess what, he went to go forward, summed it up pretty quick and realised how quick they went and he just came back and rode it cold.”
“He was on the best horse, and he goes bang.”
Luke: “He’s a really good horse. Angel Capital had every opportunity and half loomed at the 300 (metre mark). Evaporate went out quick, and Jamie Melham controlled the race.”
“Vinrock; disappointing ended up running fourth…but Ethan Brown and Jimmysstarr get the job done in the CF Orr Stakes, the last Group 1 of the Melbourne Spring (Carnival).”
