As it sits right now who are the top five horses in the country?
That is the exact question which RSN’s Nick and Trav Noonan answered off the back of the Melbourne Cup Carnival wrapping up.
See their top five horses in Australia below:
Nick Noonan
1 – Via Sistina
“Number one I’m gonna go Via Sistina,” Nick told RSN’s Correct Weight.
“I think she still holds the title there.
2 – Jimmysstar
“I think the best sprinter is Jimmysstar, so I’m going to put him in at number two.
3 – Ceolwulf
“I think the best miler is Ceolwulf, so he goes in at number three.
4 – Half Yours
“Half Yours is probably stiff to go in at number four – probably the best stayer we have at the moment.
5 – Sir Delius
“I really think this horse could be number one and he could’ve been number one if the spring worked out for him a little differently.
“Sir Delius has to be somewhere in there off the spring we saw from him.”
Trav Noonan
1 – Via Sistina
“I think you’re right, number one is Via Sistina,” Trav said.
“I think she’s clear-cut number one.
2 – Half Yours
“Number two is Half Yours just for what he’s been able to achieve this spring – Caulfield, Melbourne Cup double.
“He’s so versatile – he wins on dry tracks, wet tracks, he can take a position, he can go back in the field, he’s got a turn of foot.
3 – Sir Delius
“Sir Delius is number three for me, for his wins in the Underwood and the Turnbull.
“I hope he comes back and faces Via at 2000m in the autumn.
4 – Autumn Glow
“Four is Autumn Glow after her performance in the Epsom.
5 – Ceolwulf
“You could make a case Ceolwulf is four and five is Autumn Glow.
“I’ve omitted the sprinters just because I think they’re a bit more even.”
