James McDonald has made history, overtaking Damien Oliver for most Group 1 wins in racing history.
Ollie previously held the record with 129 Group 1 victories, but was passed by J-Mac on Golden Slipper Day!
Heading into the marvellous day of racing at Rosehill which consisted of five Group 1 races, McDonald required two victories to overtake Oliver.
In Race 5, the Group 1 Ranvet Stakes, the hoop won aboard Aeliana to equal Ollie's record.
Then in Race 6, J-Mac became the most accomplished jockey of all time, winning on Autumn Boy in the Rosehill Guineas.
At only 34-years-old, the champion jockey should be able to build quite the buffer by the end of his illustrious career.
The hoop has formed one of Australia’s most dominant partnerships across his career with star trainer Chris Waller, riding over 50 Group 1 wins together on legendary horses such as Via Sistina, Verry Elleegant and Nature Strip.
Watch below to see Waller explain why McDonald is a champion:
Speaking on SENTrack's Saturday Trackside, David Taggart and Cam Luke had nothing but praise for J-Mac.
Taggart: "Ollie's going to be knocked off the perch - he's been the GOAT for a long time."
"And all of a sudden, J-Mac's there and he's done it at 34-years-old.
"Like amazing, he's done it so quick.
Luke: "Freak."
