How the Melbourne Stars convinced Siddle to play one last BBL season at age 40
Victorian quick Peter Siddle is set to play one last BBL season this summer.
While the quick bowler thought he was done with domestic T20 cricket after finishing up with the Melbourne Renegades last season, Siddle says he was convinced to go around for one more summer by his close friend Clint McKay who now works as the Stars’ T20 High Performance Manager.
After speaking to McKay, Siddle says he jumped at the chance to join the Stars again as he never put on the green shirt during his first stint at the club at the start of the competition due to international commitments.

“I was all finished up with Big Bash,” Siddle told SEN Afternoons.
“I was just going to have a bit of time off and just enjoy an actual summer.
“But I got a call last week from my good mate Clint McKay who's working behind the scenes with the Stars now in list management.
“He wanted to see if I was interested in taking up that last contract and be a part of it.
“So, I jumped at the chance.”
Currently a veteran of 83 BBL games over nine seasons with both the Renegades and Strikers, Siddle simply wants to make the most of the time he has left at the top level as he’s already decided to formally retire from pro cricket at the end of this season.
“Like I've always said, I love playing the game,” Siddle said.
“While I don't have long left, I want to try and make the most of it.
“This is just another opportunity to play a few more games, maybe win a title and then finish up strong.”
The Stars open up their BBL season with a clash against the Perth Scorchers at Optus Stadium on Sunday, December 15.
