"I’ve always been curious": Quaynor hints at positional change for life after veteran duo

Collingwood’s Isaac Quaynor has hinted at a surprise positional move for himself in the coming years.
Quaynor had a solid game against the Bombers in defence collecting 10 disposals and 16 pressure acts in Collingwood’s 41-point win against Essendon which sees them sit on top of the ladder.
But speaking on SEN’s Crunch Time, Quaynor gave some hints as to where his positional future could be after veterans like Scott Pendlebury and Steele Sidebottom retire.
“Funny you say that for the first time, I did a bit of centre bounce work post-training with a few of the young mids throughout the week,” Quaynor said.
“It kind of applies to being a defender anyway.
“I’ve always been curious as to how I would go in the midfield, but honestly, I’m more than happy to wherever is necessary and I do love playing in defence.
“We’ll have to wait and see but as long as I’m playing and playing solid football, I’ll be happy.”
If he was to join the midfield, he would work alongside Nick Daicos who captained Collingwood for the first time becoming their youngest captain in 57 years.
Quaynor would also give some detail into how Nick Daicos addressed his teammates in the lead-up to the match.
“We were actually joking about it pre-game,” Quaynor recalled.
“I was asking him what he was thinking of going with in regards to the speech.
“He just kept it very simple. Just keep playing to our strengths, a couple of gameplan things that we spoke about in our meeting with Fly (Craig McRae).
“He did a really good job, he’s a born leader, it comes naturally to him, and he did really well.”
Collingwood will hope to continue their winning ways and cement their place on top of the ladder when they take on Geelong next Saturday at the MCG.
