Mid-season review: Why David King is "rapt" with Richmond
Kane Cornes and David King have graded each AFL club’s performance in the first half of the 2025 season.
Assessed on SEN’s Fireball, the pair took a deep dive into the positives and negatives from the first three months of the season and determine whether they have lived up to preseason expectations.
With Richmond heading into their mid-year break in 17th, Cornes and King had a closer look at the Tigers.
Adem Yze’s men have won only three games however their performance in 2025 was never going to judged off wins and losses.

Richmond
The Tigers entered the 2025 season with very little expectations after finishing 18th last year and several premiership superstars requesting trades.
Richmond stunned the competition in Round one with a come from behind victory against Carlton and also caused an upset win over Gold Coast in Round 6.
“I’ve been rapt with Richmond”, King said.
“That sounds silly when you look at the win loss but its not really about the wins, they’ve blooded a lot of kids, they’ve been in most games.
“Seven debutants he’s done exactly what he said he’d do.
“He’s going to blood the kids and as soon as those youngsters that were elite draft picks last year are healthy and fit and ready to go and they’ll be in.
“I think Adem Yze has been a big winner of 2025.
“I think a little shoutout to the core of midfielders that are senior core players and the half back flankers (Nathan) Broad and (Nick) Vlastuin who have really led the way.
“It’s a tough environment and a tough position to be in when you know that you are not going to have success and you’ve got to keep fronting up so credit to them.
“I had Vlastuin in my All-Australian squad ,he’s at that level where you are starting to get tagged which means the competition is recognising what you are doing.
“You fall in love with kids really easily because we’ve got low expectations of them but they’ve got three or four that we’ve seen already that you go, yep he’s a player.
“It’s a very promising 2025 for the Tigers.”
