36ers, ex-NBA star set to part ways

The Adelaide 36ers are set to part ways with star Montrezl Harrell.
Harrell, 31, was found guilty of a doping violation while playing in China over the offseason, with he and the team expected to part ways less than a week before the beginning of the 2025/26 NBL season.
The decision comes just days after Harrell was ruled out of the 36ers pre-season game with Panathinaikos in the Pavlos Giannakopoulos Tournament.
With the NBL falling under the jurisdiction of FIBA, the former NBA veteran could be facing a lengthy suspension over his doping violation, and given the 36ers’ potential championship tilt, he and the side are expected to cut ties before the season commences.
Last season, Harrell took the league by storm, averaging 20.5 points and 9.3 rebounds per game while being named in the 2025 All-NBL Second Team.
