Parker slams "ridiculous" report on Mam's Broncos snub

Corey Parker has slammed a report which claims Ezra Mam will not play for the Broncos this weekend because the club wanted to avoid “the embarrassment” of it being Women in League Round.
Mam has recently completed an NRL-imposed nine-match ban after he was caught driving unlicensed and with drugs in his system.
The incident occurred last October after he crashed into an Uber which was carrying a female passenger and her young daughter while under the influence of cocaine. It left the young girl with a fractured hip.
With speculation rife over when he would make his return to the NRL, a bombshell report from News Corp claims the Broncos opted to omit Mam for this week’s clash with the Rabbitohs so the club “could avoid the embarrassment of him playing during Women in League Round”.
Corey Parker said the claim was absurd.
“I’m calling that is just ridiculous,” Parker said on SENQ Breakfast. “(To write that) Ezra Mam is not playing this weekend because he had a car accident and hit a girl and it is Women in League round.
“He hit a car because he was under the influence of drugs, it didn’t matter if it was a female or a male. For Buzz to write that it’s a bad look for him to play because it’s Women in League I think is ridiculous.
“McGuire says he has to uphold standards and fight his way back into the team is right and it’s exactly what he will do.”
On top of a nine-match ban, the NRL also fined Mam $120,000.
He will play for Souths-Logan Magpies this weekend and will be in contention to face the Dragons next week.
