"Everything ticks": McAullay loves a major player in the Railway

The $1.5 million Railway Stakes is taking place today and Watch Me Rock is the current $2.90 favourite with Sportsbet.
The 1600m Group 1 has only had five horses win the prestigious Ascot race who are carrying 55kg or more in the past quarter of a century, and the Grant & Alana Williams trained Watch Me Rock will be carrying 54kg.
The voice of WA racing Darren McAullay joined SENTrack’s Winners to break down the Group 1.
“I’ll preface it by saying that I don’t think that it’s a vintage Railway,” McAullay said.
“Only five horses in the past quarter of a century have won this race with 55kg or more – that’s when we talk about the overall field.
“Then you start breaking it down to the mares in the race and you start looking at the weights – mares don’t win Railway’s with 56kg (or more).
“However, there’s a caveat on this because this is much more of a compressed weight scale Railway then we’ve had for a little while."
Despite admitting that there is a caveat on the weight statistic, the race caller exclaimed that Watch Me Rock is his pick of the yard.
“Grant and Alana (Williams) are going for their sixth win in the race,” McAullay revealed.
“12 months ago, they started their Railway Stakes campaign for 2025 with Watch Me Rock.
“Everyone kept saying watch this horse in 12 months’ time. Well, here we are.
“I finished up settling on Watch Me Rock – five-year-old, progressive, third-up, building, drops 3kg, (Willie) Pike - everything ticks.
“I think a win for him in the Group 1 today.”
