Red & blue all November through: Sport, stories & a stand against brain cancer

This November, it’s more than just race night at the track; it’s a month-long mission to tackle brain cancer.
Greyhound Racing NSW has teamed up with the Mark Hughes Foundation (MHF) for its biggest charity initiative yet: Red & Blue All November Through, a campaign that turns every win on the track into a win for brain cancer research, and SEN is the proud official partner of this great initiative.
Throughout November, $161 will be donated to the MHF every time the red rug (number 1) or the blue rug (number 4) crosses the finish line first at a NSW greyhound race meeting. The number honours Mark Hughes’s 161 first-grade games for the Newcastle Knights, and the colours, of course, are those of his beloved club.
With more than 100 meetings across the month, that’s a literal ton of chances for greyhound racing to help raise vital funds and awareness in the fight against one of Australia’s toughest diseases.
“The Mark Hughes Foundation is an incredible organisation, and we’re proud to be racing for a cause that touches so many lives,” said Steve Griffin, CEO of Greyhound Racing NSW. “It’s a simple idea that brings the whole sporting community together, cheer on the red and blue, and make a difference.”
An Evening with the Stars, Saturday, November 29
To cap off the campaign, Greyhound Racing NSW and SEN are inviting fans to An Evening with the Stars - a gala night of sport, laughter and generosity at the Ladbrokes Gardens in Newcastle.
Hosted by Frank Barrett, the night features rugby league legends Mark Hughes, Bill Peden, as well as current Knights star Fletcher Sharpe, and Glenn Pallister - the creative mind behind The Footy Show.
Guests will enjoy an all-inclusive four-hour food and beverage package, live entertainment, and a charity auction featuring exclusive prizes, including a signed Kangaroos jersey from the current Ashes squad.
Tickets are just $100 per person.
