Saturday best bets from Luke & Taggart (06/06)
Cam Luke & David Taggart have your Saturday sorted on Trackside.
The lads have taken a close look at Flemington, Randwick & Eagle Farm in a bid to find the family some winners.
See their best bets below:👇
Cam Luke
FLEMINGTON
Race 5 | 1. Miss Aria
Not only does she love wet tracks but this is by far the easiest race she has contested in a while. Two back she probably would have gone close to getting Big Swinger and King Zephyr. Did not get going until last 50m and last start was in wrong part of the track. My only concern is the speed of the race. She will drift back and swoop them but need a little pace 3kg off gets her in well weighted and in a race of this class, she can go very close!
Race 6 | 4. Elouyou
Back to the 1400m for the first time in a year on a seven day back up is a nice set up here! Handles the slop and runs well here at Flemington. Will control the race but then need an absolute breather in the run. 1.5 off helps him be well weighted. His 1400m races have been tougher than this and he is always in the finish third up. If he handles the seven day back up, I think he can go very close.
Race 7 | 2. Zahrann
I really liked him resuming and I like him even more if the heavens don’t open up! Will get back from the gate but there will be speed on with a sizeable field (Brave Miss). He hit the line so well over the 1600m and second up to the 2000m is a big big tick. He will be able to get to middle of the track which will be a win. Only carrying 57kgs after the claim from an in form apprentice. Now the big question is the soaked track. Only been on it once and was beaten easily but it was a G1 and he was in the inferior ground. As long as it doesn’t become an absolute bog, I doubt it stops him.
Race 8 | 15. Soldier Boi
With a bit of luck last start he finishes closer to the winner (Brave Danza) who isn't nearly as well weighted today. The slight concern is he will need luck again today being drawn closer to inside. He will have a very soft run in transit and won't go around a horse. Stays at the 2000m which helps and should be peaking fitness wise fourth up. Meets a lot of these horses from last race or two back a lot better at the weights and at the price has been overlooked in the market. Great each way play!
RANDWICK
Race 4 | 8. Bird Whistle
She was great at Scone where we had a little play and I think today sets up well for her again. There isn't another obvious leader in the race and she is set to control the race. She stays at the 1600m where she always runs well. Won last start and prior to that was in a group race behind Green Spaces which is great form for this. Has from on the back on Plaintiff and Nepo Baby which holds up well. The fave (Nasebah) is drawn inside gate and that is a little problem has she can drift back. Maybe shorter race today will see her more forward. I've got them both in the early quaddie but I've backed Bird.
Race 7 | 8. Elliptical (top seven)
This horse is too classy to not have a little stab at. 1300m is a nice kick off after a nice trial. Needs further obviously and deeper into prep but he has ran second in a Caulfield Guineas. He will go back but there is some speed and he will run home ok. I've backed him at the $100 and taken $3 at Sportsbet for him to run past a few and finish top seven.
Race 9 | 5. Formal Display
Having a great prep and but his best run might have been in the loss in the Scone Cup. Was posted wide and still hit the line well. Drawn much better today and little claim helps. Can stalk the speed and get into a covered groove. Soft conditions work. In an open race where God's window is the danger, I think Formal Display will continue his wonderful form!
EAGLE FARM
Race 4 | 9. Shintono
Was good behind a really classy horse last start and hit the line well considering looked entitled to run third. That makes me think the 1500m is perfect! This race is easier! Drawn lovely to control the race. Soft track no issue at all! Glenorchy is the concern as he will improve from a nice debut run. Gate a small issue as he will drift back a little so I am with Shintono but I have both in the early quaddie.
Race 7 | 5. Harry's Yacht
Was really good last start when wide and back and trying to go early and wide and stuck on really well. The way he still hit he line makes me think the 1500m will work despite my long held beliefs he won't get far past 1400m at this level. He is drawn well to get cheap runs and save ground. Drying track no issue. He handles all conditions. King Zephyr is the best horse in the race but will go back and again hope for everything to fall into place. Harry's Yacht won't need anything but the inside being ok! He keeps knocking on the door to win a good race and I'd say today is the day!
Race 8 | 8. Chispa (win) & 1. Panova (quinella)
I think Melham/Waller will dominate this Oaks. These two girls I really like for differing reasons.
I've backed Chispa and hope she gets some luck. Her run last start was massive considering she got back a little from inside gate and they walked. She hit the line really well and today with a little more speed will help. She will go back and wind up on a track that will suit her. She is primed for 2200m and if she had a better gate she would be much shorter in the market, so I have backed her.
I backed Panova in the SA Oaks and she belted them. She will appreciate the drying track and will have the run of the race. She will enjoy the extra 200m here today and all things considered deserves to be favourite.
My biggest bet is the quinella. I think these two girls will battle out the G1.

David Taggart
FLEMINGTON
Race 2 | 2. Walking Painting (value)
Isn’t here for a holiday and he’s always competitive in this grade. Conditions suit and draws a good gate, will control the race for Molly Bourke.
Race 3 | 1. Flying Done (BEST)
Was huge first up finishing behind the talented Concord Connie beating the rest home by near two. Steps up to the mile where’s he’s undefeated from two and loves racing here.
Race 5 | 2. Duchess Zou
Relished the soft conditions last start for an emphatic victory. Drops to mares grade and will get the perfect run after drawing pole.
RANDWICK
Race 5 | 11. Sunsprite
Ran through the line last start coming from last after drawing an outside gate. Is looking for this trip, draws much better and has no weight on her back.
Race 6 | 6. Ice Kool
Resumes and is a serious galloper. Was thrown in the deep end at the end of last prep where everything went wrong for him. Has had a win over the main danger in Big Red and should be winning.
