Saturday best bets from Luke & Taggart (15/11)
Cam Luke & David Taggart have your Saturday sorted on Trackside.
The lads have taken a close look at Caulfield & Newcastle in a bid to find the family some winners.
See their best bets below:👇
Cam Luke
CAULFIELD
Race 4, No.5 - Bases Loaded (each-way)
Find himself in a new stable and probably more importantly in a new state as he needs good tracks. Has jumped out well for the Hayes boys and there is a little bit of speed in the race. He will be able to run over the top of them and I think he’s a great each way play when he is well and truly over the odds.
Race 6, No.8 - Vestas
I really liked her at Flemington and she got scratched due to the track and today is the perfect set up. Huge amount of speed so they will run along and she will get back. She needs just a little bit of luck to finally turn those two good runs this campaign into a win.
Race 8, No.5 - Angel Capital
Totally understand why Jimmy is the favourite but no chance id have him odds on. This bloke’s run in the Everest when I’m not even certain it’s a 1200m horse was huge. Gets back to the seven furlongs and a track he likes with a set up he’ll enjoy and I think he’ll go bang and get that group one.
NEWCASTLE
Race 3, No.8 - Upwardly Mobile
Keeps knocking on the door and today as long as she jumps a little bit better than she has been she will have the perfect run transit. Has another crack at the mile which I like. Good track form doesn’t read incredibly well on paper but they have been in Races better than this and the highway form leading into this is what I like.
Race 5, No.3 - Sonofdec (each-way)
Has to contain with a wider gate today but the winner of four pillars will be it without going around the horse shows he’s in great form. he will go back anyway so the gate isn’t the death knell. The reason he’s at $21 is because he’ll have to go around this time then under them. The favourite will get opposite run to last start and he’s gonna be incredibly hard to beat. I can see this bloke in career best form and never running a bad race here flying home. He’s a great each way.
Race 6, No.10 - Belle Detelle
In all honesty, I think this girl is just way better than this field! Gets up in trip second up, will be fitter for it and loves firm track. Again a girl who like a little bit of pace but this seems a great race for her to have a nice prep up in distance! Collett goes on and she will be too good for these!
Race 7, No.6 - Ratify (each-way)
In a race that a few have a Q or 2 at the Mile, he doesn’t! There is some speed so even if he gets back it won’t be a race killer. Been hitting the line really well over shorter trips dominated by on pace: is over the odds and expect him to rattle home and a great each way play!
Race 8, No.3 - Coal Crusher
Comes out of the right races and always peaks on this day! Drawn really well to be closer than last start, fourth up is his jam and track conditions always suit!! It will take a good effort to beat him as everything points to him winning this race again!!
Race 9, No.2 - Maison Louis
A million excuses last start when I backed him! His previous two runs before that, win this!!! He is also back on a good track! Gets up in distance which works for him just like he did when he won QLD derby with my money on!! I like him just as much as I did last start. Drawn a little awkwardly but I’ll back the young gun to get him a backside and go bang!

David Taggart
CAULFIELD
Race 1, No.8 - Just Like Gabby
Will get every chance from a good barrier. Hits this third up where she’s had a win and she will find this easier than last start when she started fav and finished on their heels.
Race 4, No.2 - Sghirripa (value)
Hits this second up and this is where he runs well winning 3/6. Wasn’t disgraced first up as he looked in need of the run. Will track up the fav and get last crack. He’s a nice each-way play.
NEWCASTLE
Race 3, No.1 - Credit Controller (value)
I know this has drawn the outside and I say barriers win races but it will go forward, Credit Controller is over the odds. Gets the claim for Sienna who’s inform and is worth a little each-way play.
Race 5, No.4 - Meridiana
Just got too far back out of her ground last start and was really the only one to make up ground on the day. Clearly should have won and she gets a senior on. The only time she raced over the mile she ran third in a listed race last prep.
