Tasracing's Sunday best bets at Hobart (24/05)
Thoroughbred racing is in Hobart on Sunday for a good eight-race card.
The rail is at +12m, with a fine weather forecast pointing towards a soft 5-rated surface.

Best Bet
Race 1 – 2. Zewinna
Zewinna hasn’t won for over a year but finds the right race to break her drought. She was narrowly beaten at the track and distance last time behind Hurricane Ketut and meets him 1.5 kg better at the weights. Draws to box seat off what will likely be only a moderate tempo in the small field and would get her chance from there.
Next Best
Race 3 – 1. Happy Clan
Trainer John Keys has a strong team on Sunday’s program, and one of them is Happy Clan. He was no match for Florence Glass last time at the track and distance but will strip fitter for that and importantly has a 3kg swing in his favour. Five of his six career wins have been in Hobart and he just looks placed to run well.
Best Each-way
Race 7 – 1. Furneaux
Flying Concello chases three wins on the bounce, and I’m hoping a short price for him will provide each-way odds about Furneaux. He’s earned the 60kg he will carry here as a 74-rater in BM68 grade and ticks plenty of boxes as a good fresh horse with an outstanding record over the Hobart 1200m. Sticky map from the wide draw for Sam Kennedy, but there’s good speed in the race, which will hopefully enable her to slot into the running line.
