The horse to beat in the 2025 Group 1 Champions Mile
The Group 1 Champions Mile will be run over 1600m at Flemington on Saturday.
Mr Brightside won last year after Pride Of Jenni (2023), Alligator Blood (2022), Superstorm (2021) and Yulong Prince (2020) won before him.
Formerly the Cantala Stakes, the race was renamed in 2022 and sits as one of three Group 1s on Champions Day.
Snapshot of the race below:

The horse they all have to get past is PRIDE OF JENNI who led her rivals a merry dance in the Empire Rose last Saturday.
She's drawn perfectly to try something similar under Declan Bates, but surely the rival hoops will wise up and be onto her. Won't they?
One horse who has the arsenal to absorb a solidly run race is the Hayes boys' weapon MR BRIGHTSIDE who can go back-to-back in the Champs Mile.
He had no right to run second in the King Charles in Sydney last time out and with a little more luck from a wide draw he can sit handy and pounce at the death. He'll be keen on more rain too.
CEOLWULF, who won the King Charles, must be respected but he will need it run quickly so he can have the last crack at them. Can certainly win.
TREASURETHE MOMENT was excellent in the Cox Plate. She has an exemplary record at Flemington (three from three) and is unbeaten in three starts on soft going.
It's hard to see anything else winning, but PERICLES could run well at a big price.
Selections
