Saturday’s racing across Flemington and Rosehill saw some massive wins by several horses.
From Via Sistina going back-to-back in the Champions Stakes to Whisky On The Hill nutting out a tough win across 2600m, the day had plenty of fantastic stories.
See the top five wins from Saturday below:
1 – Via Sistina
How can you not go past Via Sistina dominating in the Group 1 Champions Stakes as the best victory of the weekend.
The eight-year-old superstar completed the Cox Plate, Champions Sprint double for the second year in a row.
The mare was ridden perfectly by James McDonald and won by 2.75 lengths - a must watch!
2 – Giga Kick
Wow, Giga Kick's win in the Group 1 Champions Sprint was awesome for racing.
The fan favourite went head-to-head with Magic Time down the Flemington straight and just edged out the mare.
An epic win for the 2022 Everest winner.
3 – Ceolwulf
Ceolwulf reigned supreme in the Group 1 Champions Mile, defeating an elite field which included Mr Brightside, Treasurethe Moment and Pride Of Jenni.
The five-year-old battled away against Pericles, with the pair absolutely blitzing the rest of the field, but Ceolwulf proved too tough for the Godolphin runner.
A seriously good victory against an excellent field.
4 – Vivy Air
The favourite Transatlantic hit the lead at the 300m mark and looked like he was going to run away with it in the Five Diamonds, but Vivy Air had something to say about that.
The mare bolted down the inside, getting over the top of the favourite to win in a photo finish.
This win marked Vivy Air's fourth victory from 27 starts.
5 – Whisky On The Hill
In an extremely tough staying race, Whisky On The Hill absolutely swam on the heavy 9 Flemington track.
This is as tough a win as you will ever see in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes.
