Top Swans draftee to be sidelined for at least four months
Sydney Swans draftee Jesse Dattoli will be out of action for at least four months.
The Swans have confirmed that the 18-year-old small forward will be sidelined for a lengthy spell due to a “lumbar stress reaction in his lower back”.
He will not be permitted to run for six weeks as he undergoes rehabilitation.
Dattoli was selected by the Swans with Pick 22 in the 2024 AFL Draft after starring for Carey Grammar, Northern Knights and Vic Metro last season.
“Jesse reported some low-grade back pain earlier this week and scans have revealed he has developed a stress injury in his lower back,” the club’s Head of Physiotherapy and Medical Services, Damian Raper, said via sydneyswans.com.au.
“He will have a break over Christmas before commencing off legs strength and conditioning work in the New Year.”
Dattoli was drafted by the Swans last month alongside Ned Bowman (Pick 26), Riley Bice (Pick 41) and Riak Andrew (Pick 55).
