The lads have taken a close look at Caulfield Heath & Canterbury in a bid to find the family some winners.
See their best bets below:👇

CAULFIELD HEATH
Race 3 | 1. Glenfinnan
Backed this bloke last week and he should have won. Was needing 1800m up from 1400m and he did but had no luck before hitting the line really well. Funnily enough you can say the same about Blue Cowboy in the same race but he drew too badly here. Glenfinnan draws lovely to have the trail, toe into the ground no issue and the claim in an easier race is a smart move. Deserves luck and if it gets it the seven day back up will be a great play and we get our money back from last week!
Race 4 | 1. Prestar (win) / 12. Afterberna (quinella)
Resumes after a couple of nice jumpouts and started fave in a race that Grafterburners and Sylph ran 1-2. Prior to that he was ok behind Tempted and Beiwacht and this is goof enough for this even if he has to carry a big weight! Apparently he needed to be gelded and he has been so if he gets to the form prior to the Sunny Coast, he will beat these. 1200m works and it blows my mind Golden Magnate is fave off a Moe maiden. Afterberna is the danger, she won like she was backed to do so last start and its clear she has come back in really good order! No issue with the toe into the deck and he is drawn well to sit and stalk. This is obviously tougher but she has a weight advantage over Prestar and they'll run 1-2 but Prestar has the runs on the board so I am with him!
Race 7 | 1. Call To Glory
Was pretty good resuming in stronger race, finishing right next to Bustling. He is a 1000m specialist and LOVES a soft track! Has to carry a lot more today but Pang takes three off and makes it manageable. He will go and eyeball Killiana OSL and more fitness under the belt will have this bloke being very hard to run down. His form around Losesomewinmore is great for this!
Race 8 | 16. Royal Flare
His first prep was really good in better races and he has trialled well. I was really keen to back him last week but he drew horribly and was scratched. Now he has had the luck of scratching his bloke from a good gate, he can go bang! Love starting over the 1200m and the rain won't cause an issue at all. The races he will go to next are Saturday grade and better than this!
CANTERBURY
Race 4 | 11. Wootton Way
Was pretty good last week and I do like the seven day back up, up in trip setup. Handled the Heavy and it hit the line well when coming with a much better horse who won the race (Hello Captain) Will need a little luck from the tricky gate but I trust TB to get cover. Only been here once for a win and same as 3rd up form. In an open race expect WW to run very well.
Race 5 | 6. Louie's Legacy
Was pretty good on Canberra resuming and no doubt his second up from is comparable to his good fresh form. Gets up to a trip that works and no doubt the Heavier the better. Gate a little Q as he can be a little tardy away but in saying that the track might play out wide and he will need to swing around them anyway. Small field helps that anyway. Gets conditions to suit and will be a tough to beat.
Race 6 | 5. Xpresso
On paper he looks like he is a having a bad prep. I'm not as sold on that. Two back he had zero luck when had a chance to run on in a better race. Last start he got snagged from a shocking gate and leader controlled and won. He probably isn't as suited from that inside gate but he does handle the Heavy track and first crack at 1250m at peak fitness should work. Got the Concordia in the quad as well but expect Xpresso to run well.
David Taggart
CAULFIELD HEATH
Race 3 | 1. Glenfinnan
Backs up from last week’s very good run and could make a case he should have won in what was a messy run race. Will find this easier and this is his preferred surface, is the one they have to beat.
Race 4 | 1. Prestar
Resumes and if he’s right he should be going close. Raced against some very good horses in the past without disgracing himself. His trials have been good leading into this, he can bounce on the bunny and lead all the way.
CANTERBURY
Race 3 | 1. Allegro Miss
Comes into this now given the heavy track. Steps up to her pet trip and she has only been beaten around this course just the once winning 2/3. Comes in very well at the weights after the claim and she won’t know herself in this grade.
