YES or NO: The horses that can win the William Reid Stakes
Expert form analyst Mark Hunter has taken a look at the Group 1 William Reid Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on Saturday.
He has broken down each horse in that race, runner by runner.
William Reid Stakes
Hunter believes there is a clear best horse in the race and that is the favourite - Jimmysstar!
“I think Jimmy will win,” Hunter exclaimed.
“It comes down to who do you think could run a place in The Everest (1200m)? Jimmy did, maybe Angel Capital could, Tropicus would give you a sight.
“But I think Jimmysstar is clearly the best horse in the race, and I think he'll win.
“He has met Angel Capital a couple of times, (who has been) beaten at home both times (by Jimmysstar).
“He obviously draws barrier 1 - he'll need to get clear at the right time, he'll probably end up two back (on) the fence… Maybe following Tropicus, depends who leads.
“In his last race and his last two trials, he's jumped a lot better than he used to, so he's beginning well.
“And he's a horse who doesn't need much daylight to wind up and get going, so if a gap comes at the 300m, he'll burst out.
“I think he's the best horse in the race, and I think he'll win.”
Hunter also provided a YES or NO rating for each horse in the sprint.
