"Limbs chopped off": Aussie F1 star's sickening death threats
Australian F1 driver Jack Doohan has revealed the extent of the sickening online abuse and death threats he received while driving with Alpine.
The 23-year-old, who will be a reserve driver with Haas in 2026, detailed shocking details of what he and his partner endured last year.
Doohan crashed out in his home Grand Prix in Melbourne at the start of 2025 and continued to struggle until he was replaced by Franco Colapinto after the Miami race.
In a forthcoming episode of Drive to Survive, Doohan has revealed just how much was going on behind the scenes leading into the Vice City round.
"I received serious death threats,” Dohhan said. “They would kill me here if I didn't get out of the car. I had 6 or 7 emails saying that if I was still in the car by the time we got to Miami, all my limbs would be chopped off."
Doohan went on to explain he was flanked by three security guards throughout the Miami weekend and had been told not to speak.
"It was Wednesday. I was there with my girlfriend and my trainer,” he said. “And I had three armed men around me; one at the window and one over there.
“I had to call my police escort to get it under control I keep my mouth shut 99 per cent of the time. Everything I say here is only a third of what I'm actually allowed to say. It's pretty intense stuff. It's not the most enjoyable way to race.
“I wasn’t able to enjoy being a Formula 1 driver, something I dreamt of for so long.
“So yeah, it’s pretty s***.”
Now with Haas, Doohan is looking to enjoy a fresh opportunity to make his dreams a reality.
"I’m thrilled to be joining TGR Haas F1 Team,” said Doohan.
“It’s the ideal place to continue my Formula 1 career.
"I would like to thank the team for giving me the opportunity to grow and take on the great challenge of 2026 together. I’m eager to begin working with the team and collaborating on a successful season."
The F1 season will get started in Melbourne next weekend.
