FIFA live: Ecuador accuse Mexico of sabotage amid chaotic scenes
World Cup daily news. We will bring you the latest from around the world as the FIFA World Cup 2026™ finally gets under way (All times AEST).

ECUADOR LAUNCH OFFICIAL COMPLAINT
You've got to hand it to the Mexico fans, they really will do anything for their team.
In a bid to give the co-hosts as much of an edge as possible for their round 32 clash against Ecuador, fans in their hundreds descended on the opposition hotel and played music, honked car horns, chanted, played drums and trumpets in a bid to keep the players up and distracted.
The Ecuadorian football federation has taken issue with the sabotage and made an official complaint to FIFA for "unsportsmanlike behaviours".
"Regarding some extra-football incidents before the round of 16 match, the Ecuadorian Football Federation has filed a complaint with the organizers," a statement said.
“This behaviour goes against the principles of fair play, equity, and unity a World Cup should represent.
“The FEF respectfully urges the relevant authorities to address these events and take measures to protect our players, staff, and fans.
“We hope these unsportsmanlike acts do not tarnish the celebration uniting two brother countries, and that respect, fair competition, and fair play prevail.
“Ecuador will always respond on the pitch.”
