Peacock: Socceroos "$50m star" will be our top scorer
SEN’s Adam Peacock has made a very brave prediction ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, naming a defender to top our goal scoring across the tournament.
After scoring four goals and assisting nine in one of Europe’s biggest leagues and mounting five G/A for the Socceroos across qualification and friendly matches this year, the wing back has had an exceptional year of growth, with a big move on the cards given he impresses at this year’s World Cup.
However, despite the likes of Mohamed Toure tearing up the Championship and Nestory Irankunda continuing to excite, Peacock believes that Australia’s brightest defensive talent in Jordan Bos could also prove our biggest threat going forward.

“For the uninitiated listening, Jordan Bos is a left back,” Peacock told SEN's Arvos with Adam Peacock.
“He is a left wing back in the system that Tony Popovic plays. He plays for Feyenoord at the moment
“If he has anything that resembles a good World Cup, if he is not already, he is going to end up in the Premier League.
“The market would dictate probably $15-20 million. That’s what he is worth. (If he wasn’t Australian), $40-50 million.
“Hopefully he has a great World Cup. He is one of our most important players. He will be our highest goal scorer at the World Cup.
“Only put that out there if it comes off, and if it doesn’t come off, it never happened!”
Australia will face off against Switzerland in a final pre-tournament friendly this Sunday morning, before opening their FIFA World Cup campaign against Turkiye on Sunday, June 14.
The FIFA World Cup 26™ in the USA, Mexico and Canada kicks off on Friday, June 12. You can hear EVERY GAME LIVE across the SEN network.
