Sports Entertainment Group (SEG), operating as Sports Entertainment Network (SEN), is pleased to confirm the successful transfer of ownership of the Otago Nuggets and Southern Hoiho to Otago Hoops Limited, a passionate collective of local Dunedin community supporters.
The transaction has now been completed, with Otago Hoops Limited assuming full ownership of both the men’s and women’s teams effective immediately. SEN will continue to play a key role in the future of both clubs, acting as the Australian sponsorship sales arm through to September 2028, ensuring ongoing commercial support and connection to the broader trans-Tasman sports network.
This transition marks a significant milestone for basketball in New Zealand’s South Island, placing the teams in the hands of those who know and love the region best. The new ownership group brings a strong commitment to community engagement, long-term sustainability and continued success on the national stage.
Craig Hutchison, Chief Executive Officer of SEN, said he was pleased the ownerships would be transferred into local hands.
“We are proud to have played a part in the journey of the Otago Nuggets and Southern Hoiho, and we’re delighted to see them now in the hands of a locally-led group who are deeply invested in their future.
“Our goal was always to ensure these teams remained rooted in Otago, and we’re confident that Otago Hoops Limited will continue to grow the clubs with passion and purpose.
“We’re grateful to remain involved as the Australian sales partner and look forward to supporting the Nuggets and Hoiho as they enter this exciting new chapter.
“From championship wins to community impact, our time as owners has been incredibly rewarding, and we wish the new leadership every success moving forward.”
