2026 PGA Championship: Ultimate Guide
The 2026 PGA Championship tees off tonight (AEST) at Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania. Aronimink favours the long hitters in the field but challenging greens will demand a high-level of approach play and touch around the greens.

Favourites
Scottie Scheffler - $5
The reigning PGA Champion has been quietly going about his business in 2026 but will be eager to get a win over the line having finished second in all three of his last Tour starts.
Scheffler last tour victory came late January. Scheffler cruised to victory at the PGA championship last year - winning with five strokes to spare. Expect to see the world number one to mount a serious challenge this week with the intention of challenging for the US Open next month and completing the Grand Slam.
Rory McIlroy -$9.5
McIlroy has started the year with a statement of intent. The week of the Masters week, McIlroy told media he has a renewed focus in 2026 and wishes to win many more majors post his Grand Slam glory in 2025.
The then Master's champion put it out there for all to hear before comprehensively securing back-to-back victories at the Masters. It is hard to look past McIlroy. The Northern Irishman is ranked first Strokes Gain: Tee to Green on the PGA Tour and in combination with a strong performance on the greens you can expect him to challenge late into the weekend.
Four of the last five majors have been won by McIlroy and Scheffler (two each). Will we finally see the World’s Top two golfers go head-to-head in the final Sunday pairing of a major?

The Australians
Six Australians are in the field this week at the PGA Championship. Adam Scott is set to play his 26th consecutive PGA Championship while Travis Smyth will play his first. The last ten PGA Championships have all been won by Americans – Queenslander Jason Day was the last international winner of the Championship back in 2015.
Adam Scott - $56
This week will be Scott’s 99th consecutive major and the South Australian is an outsider’s chance to win only his second major. Distance off the tee and accuracy on approach is a major advantage this week.
Scott is ranked top 20 on Tour for Driving Distance and third for strokes gain on approach. Scott’s Achilles heel is on the green – a feel for the greens is crucial.
Min Woo Lee - $51
Lee’s record in the majors is underwhelming. The West Australian has missed the cut five out of the last 6 times. His 2026 form has been promising with six Top 20 finishes. Can Lee finally turn the page on his major woes and be in contention for the championship late on Sunday?
Jason Day - $101
Tied 12th in the Masters this year. As mentioned, his lone major is the PGA Championship over 10 years ago. Recent form leaves a little to be desired but his ceiling will feature in days three and four.
Cam Smith - $301
I know, this is a long shot. It feels like the best of this cult hero is well behind him. But with the spectre of a shut-down LIV tour next year, can he shift his focus back to some serious golf. Can't realistically see him making it past the cut and it's probably a step too far; but strange things have happened.
Elvis Smylie & Travis Smyth
The experience will hold both of these men in good stead, but, it would take an enormous career peak for either to make the cut.

Outside Chances
Jordan Spieth - $51
Spieth is only a PGA Championship away from completing his career Grand Slam. The American has struggled to put all elements of his game together in 2026 – he leads in driving one week then putting the next week.
He is a fierce competitor though and is determined to put together his game to mount a serious challenge this weekend. Spieth possesses next level touch and control on/around the greens – something which will be essential to a win come Sunday evening.
Collin Morikawa - $41
Morikawa has struggled in 2026 with back issue but in six starts in 2026, he has a win plus five Top 10 finishes to his 2026 tally including a T7 finish at the Masters. Morikawa is one of the most accurate on Tour from Tee to Green.
Morikawa’s accuracy is a great advantage to avoid being punished by the course. Morikawa’s form in 2026 despite managing an injury speaks for itself making it very hard to completely rule him out of contention this week.
