One simple thing that kickstarted Scott Miller’s path to redemption
Scott Miller’s path to redemption is now in full swing.
The former Olympic swimmer has dealt with tragedy, addiction and a drug conviction in his life.
At the age of 51, Miller is out of prison and looking to turn it all around.
Miller spoke candidly to Garry Lyon and Tim Watson on SEN Breakfast about the mistakes he made, his path to redemption and the importance of routine in his life.
When asked what he needed most to help him through his troubles, Miller had a simple answer.
“Routine, believe it or not, it’s simple,” he said.
“Routine and structure - as soon as that’s taken away from you… for me personally I just fell apart.
“As soon as I started getting routine back in my life… and that’s what prison gave me, it gave me routine and structure. I acknowledged that when I was in there.
“I’m sitting there scratching my head. It’s been in front of me so long, how didn’t I recognise this? I’ve been structured my whole life and as soon as that structure was taken away I fell apart.
“I couldn’t put two and two together. And it took me sitting in that bloody cell all these years to have a lightbulb moment, thinking how stupid am I, it was right in front of me.”
