SEN retains position as #1 sports podcaster in Australia
Sports Entertainment Network (SEN) has retained its position as Australia’s leading sports audio platform, topping the August Podcast Ranker results for the sixth consecutive month as the number 1 sports podcasting network in the country.
SEN recorded 4,035,870 total downloads and 840,585 unique listeners, continuing its dominance in the sports podcasting space.
SEN Breakfast (featuring Fireball with Kane Cornes and David King on Monday and Friday, and Breakfast with Garry Lyon and Tim Watson from Tuesday to Thursday) and Whateley (with Gerard Whateley) remain the top two most downloaded sports podcasts in Australia, with 1,297,048 and 687,346 downloads respectively.
SEN now features 17 titles in the Top 300 Australian-made podcasts, with 10 shows making major audience growth impacts in the charts. Notably, The Agenda Setters (based on Channel 7’s AFL analysis program, filmed in SEN’s Southbank studios and produced by SEN’s television production arm, Rainmaker) and Don’t Shoot The Messenger (with Caroline Wilson and Corrie Perkin) made their first-ever appearance in the ranker, highlighting the network’s expanding reach and content diversity.
SEN’s national footprint continues to grow, with 11 Victorian-produced shows, four NSW/QLD-produced shows and two WA-produced shows featuring in the Top 300.
SEN now represents 26% of all Australian-made sports podcasts, ahead of Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) in next spot with at 9% with six titles.
SEN’s number 1 racing radio program, Giddy Up with Gareth Hall, also topped the racing rankings with 25,739 listeners and 100,143 downloads for the month.
Craig Hutchison, Chief Executive Officer of SEN, said he was thrilled at the continued growth in sports podcasting.
“We’re incredibly proud to retain our position as Australia’s number one sports podcasting network,” Hutchison said. “These results are a testament to the strength of our content, the talent across our shows, and the deep connection we’ve built with sports fans nationwide. To lead the Podcast Ranker for six consecutive months and represent over a quarter of all Australian-made sports podcasts is a phenomenal achievement. SEN continues to set the benchmark for sports audio in this country.”
