SEN's FIFA World Cup Team of the Week for Matchweek 2
Matchweek 2 of the FIFA World Cup 2026™ has wrapped up, with the stars once again shining on the biggest stage!

A gripping second week of group stage action saw seven teams confirm their progression to the Round of 32, with five nations headed home.
SEN's Team of the Week features two Dutchmen, two Spaniards and two Frenchman after strong performances across the board.
Keeper Eloy Room earns the nod over Iran's Alireza Beirenvand after outstanding performances in net, with Portugal's Nuno Mendes (1G, CS) and Netherlands' Denzel Dumfries (2A) manning the wingback positions.
Japan's Ko Itakura (1A, CS) and Spain's Aymeric Laporte (1A, CS) complete the back four, with Paraguay's Juan Caceres earning a defensive spot off the bench after nine tackles and seven clearances in their shock win over Turkiye.
Martin Odegaard starts at central midfield after pulling the strings in Norway's win over Senegal, alongside Swiss midfielder Johan Manzambi, who scored two gaols off the bench to down Bosnia.
Lionel Messi (2G) once again headlines a four-man attack, alongside Canada's hat-trick hero Jonathan David, Spain's Mikel Oyarzabal (2G, 1A) and Netherlands' Cody Gakpo (2G, 1A).
French midfielder Michael Olise (2A) makes it two from two in the Team of the Week, with Japan's Ayase Ueda (2G, 1A) and Portuguese legend Cristiano Ronaldo responding to the criticism with two goals.
