JLP, Grenvold and Parmy honoured at Mavs awards night
The Melbourne Mavericks celebrated a standout 2026 season at their annual Mavs Award Night, recognising excellence across the playing group and broader club community.
In a night that highlighted both individual brilliance and collective contribution, Jamie-Lee Price was crowned the club’s 2026 Club Champion with 80 votes, capping off a remarkable debut season in Mavs colours. Price’s leadership, consistency and impact across the campaign – which included a regular season, League-leading 1347.5 net points and 294 goal assists (second-highest in the League) - saw her take home the club’s highest individual honour.
Jessie Grenvold was also recognised for her exceptional season – her first as a fully-contract Suncorp Super Netball player - finishing as Runner Up Club Champion on 80 votes. Grenvold’s fairytale season went from strength-to-strength, capitilising on an unfortunate, season-ending injury to Tara Hinchliffe to earn the starting goal keeper bib, going on to finish the season with her maiden Diamonds call-up. Grenvold finished the season ranked fourth in intercepts (33) and fifth in deflections (61).
The defender’s influence on the wider team extended well-beyond on-court performance however, with her teammates also voting Grenvold as Wing Woman of the Year (Players’ Player Award); a reflection of the high regard in which she is held across the group.
Captain Amy Parmenter rounded out the Club Champion awards in third place on 51 votes, following another strong and reliable year. On top of her extended leadership duties, with vice-captains Hinchliffe (injury) and Molly Jovic (pregnancy) both being sidelined, Parmenter also ranked fifth in the League for intercepts (27) and sixth for deflections (60).
In other awards presented on the night, first-year Mav Reilley Batcheldor was awarded the Coaches Award, recognised for her professionalism, growth and commitment throughout the season, particularly as she worked on her role, transitioning from impact goal shooter to staring goal attack. Meanwhile, midcourter and Mavs Training Partner, Ruby Shannon, claimed the Powerbay Reserves Best and Fairest Award, after an outstanding year for the Mavs Reserves.
In a unique moment of recognition, the Maverick of the Year (Staff Award) was awarded collectively to all staff – both on- and off-court - celebrating the tireless work behind the scenes that underpins the club’s continued growth and success.
The evening also acknowledged a strong cohort of debutants who made their mark in Mavs colours during the 2026 season, including Tara Hinchliffe (#19), Jamie-Lee Price (#20), Reilley Batcheldor (#21), Maddie Hay (#22), Sacha McDonald (#23 – also SSN debut) and Charlotte Sexton (#24 – also SSN debut). Each played an important role in shaping the campaign and represents the exciting future of the club.
Mavs General Manager, Shae Bolton-Brown, praised the playing group and wider club at the conclusion of the season.
“This group has continued to set the standard for what it means to be a Maverick and continually pushes to break benchmarks,” Bolton-Brown said.
“Jamie-Lee’s season has been elite from start to finish - she’s driven standards, delivered consistently at the highest level and is a clear and deserving Club Champion. Her performance this year has been a cornerstone of our success, and it’s been matched by the depth and commitment we’ve seen across the entire squad.”
“Our success and improvement on the court this year has been evident,” Bolton-Brown continued, “but our performance off it has been noteworthy as well. The connection between our players, staff and broader Mavericks family continues to grow every year, which is something we’re really proud of. Nights like this are a chance to reflect on how far we’ve come and to celebrate the people who are driving us forward.”
During the evening’s formalities, the club also acknowledged Maddie Hay, who announced her retirement from elite netball following the conclusion of the 2026 Suncorp Super Netball season.
Joining the Mavs as a replacement player on the eve of the season, Hay quickly became an integral part of the club's record-breaking campaign, playing all 15 games and starting at wing attack in every match.
A proven performer throughout her national league career, Hay finishes with 98 elite-level appearances. In her final season, she led the entire SSN competition for centre pass receives (313) and ranked fifth in the league for goal assists (230), underlining her influence and consistency through the midcourt.
Hay said she would always be grateful for the opportunity to finish her career at the Mavs.
"I'm so beyond grateful I had the opportunity for this experience at the Mavericks,” Hay said. “It was more than I could have ever imagined. I enjoyed it so much and grew so much as a player and a person. I'm so desperately sad to leave but also so happy with how my career finished up and very keen to start the next chapter.”
The Mavs would like to thank and congratulate Maddie for her outstanding contribution to the club and to Australian netball, and wish her every success in the next stage of her journey.
